Kurallar

• Kural 1: by + taşıt

  Nasıl yolculuk ettiğimizi söylerken by + taşıt kullanırız. Arada the / a / my olmaz. Türkçedeki “-le” yüzünden “with bus” demek sık yapılan bir hatadır.

  Kalıp: by bus / car / train / bike / plane / boat / taxi / subway

  Örnek: We go to the lake by car. (Göle arabayla gideriz.)

  Örnek: My aunt travels by train. (Teyzem trenle seyahat eder.)

• Kural 2: Yürüyerek → on foot

  Yürüyerek gitmek için on foot deriz (tekil foot). Daha doğal yolu ise walk fiilidir: I walk to school.

  Kalıp: go on foot · walk to school

  Örnek: The library is close, so we go on foot. (Kütüphane yakın, bu yüzden yürüyerek gideriz.)

  Örnek: Mia walks to school. (Mia okula yürüyerek gider.)

• Kural 3: Taşıtın içinde → on the bus / in the car

  Şu an taşıtın içindeysen: büyük taşıtlar (bus, train, plane, subway) ve bisiklet → on the / on my. Araba ve taksi → in the / in a. by bus = otobüsle gidiyorum (nasıl?) · on the bus = otobüsün içindeyim (nerede?)

  Kalıp: on the bus / train / plane / my bike · in the car / a taxi

  Örnek: I'm on the train now. (Şu an trendeyim.)

  Örnek: The dog sleeps in the car. (Köpek arabada uyur.)

• Kural 4: go to school, ama go home!

  Bir yere gitmek: go to school, go to work, go to bed. Ama home önüne to gelmez: go home, come home, walk home, get home. Bir yerde olmak: at home, at school, at work · yatakta: in bed.

  Kalıp: go to school / work / bed · go home · at home / school / work · in bed

  Örnek: We go home at four. (Saat dörtte eve gideriz.)

  Örnek: Grandma is at home, and Grandpa is in bed. (Büyükannem evde, büyükbabam yatakta.)

Sık yapılan hatalar

• I go to school with bus. → I go to school by bus.

  Taşıtla yolculuk → by.

• Let's go to home. → Let's go home.

  home önünde to olmaz.

• She is in home. → She is at home.

  Evde → at home.
