Student, parent and teacher accounts are free. The app has no ads and no third-party trackers.

What age is it for?
The content is suitable for all ages and follows the MEB English curriculum for grades 2–12. The starting level is not assigned by age: everyone takes the placement test or starts from the beginning (Pre-A1). Children aged 7–10 also get short, jargon-free versions of grammar explanations.
Link to this question →Can parents see their child's progress?
Yes. The parent panel shows the child's progress report, the words learned, the topics studied and the time spent in the app; a weekly report also arrives by email. Parents can also set up a study schedule for their child.
Link to this question →How do I link my child's account?
From a parent account you can create a child account or link an existing one with a link code generated by the child. A parent invitation card or email sent by a teacher also links the parent to the child automatically.
Link to this question →How does parental consent work?
A child under 13 who signs up alone gets an account only after a parent approves via a link sent to the parent's email. With a teacher's email invitation the parent gives consent directly; for class accounts created by a teacher, consent is the school's and teacher's responsibility.
Link to this question →Are notifications sent at night?
No. No notifications are sent to under-16s between 21:00 and 08:00, or to those 16 and over between 23:00 and 08:00 (Istanbul time). Within these limits users choose their own notification hours and types.
Link to this question →Can I make a study schedule for my child?
Yes. Open Study schedule from the linked child’s card, choose days, times and duration, then save. Device notification permission allows reminders at suitable hours. Editing may be restricted for a schedule set by a teacher.
Link to this question →Where can I see screen time?
The usage card in the progress report shows active app time by day. Parents and teachers can open reports only for linked children; usage also appears on the child’s card.

Which English is taught?
American English. British spellings (e.g. colour) are only accepted as alternative correct answers.
Link to this question →How are levels determined?
There are 7 levels from Pre-A1 to C2, following the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The placement test starts at Pre-A1 and asks 10 questions per level; getting at least 8 out of 10 moves you up, and the first level you don't pass becomes your level.
Link to this question →What content does the app have?
More than 20,000 words, 150 grammar topics with step-by-step lessons, 50 sentence-structure chapters, 32,500 questions with Turkish and English explanations and 350 graded readings from Pre-A1 to C2. In readings, press and hold a word to see its meaning, part of speech and pronunciation.
Link to this question →Can it be used offline?
Word review works offline: whenever the app is opened online, a 100-question pack from the child's level downloads automatically; without internet the app still opens and offline review works, and answers are saved automatically when the connection is back. Lessons, games and races need an internet connection.
Link to this question →What is the teaching method based on?
It is based on research into language learning and memory, such as spaced repetition, retrieval practice, immediate feedback and game-based learning. Finished topics are reviewed with short quizzes after 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30 days. The method and academic sources are on the Our method page.
Link to this question →Does it use AI?
Talking with Hoot does not use AI; it is a pre-written, rule-based conversation practice. Audio plays from pre-generated recordings or the device's own voice. Questions, lessons and explanations are read and checked before they are published.
Link to this question →When do lesson memory checks appear?
A completed topic is checked with three questions after 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30 days. At least two correct answers advance the interval; otherwise it moves back one stage and returns the next day. Five successful checks mark the topic as permanent.
Link to this question →Are lessons at other levels locked?
No. The learner’s level is expanded initially; other levels can also be opened on the Lessons map. A topic button leads to its lesson, practice and topic reading.

How do teachers use it in class?
A teacher sets up a class in a few minutes and either creates the student accounts or emails invitations to parents. There is ready homework from curriculum units, topic-based homework, exams with result analysis, QR worksheets and a class quiz on the projector that students join from their phones with a PIN.
Link to this question →How are teacher accounts verified?
For children's safety, teacher accounts are verified: the teacher scores at least 85 on a 100-question English proficiency test, submits their school and province, and an administrator approves. Until then they can try the app with 1 class and 5 students.
Link to this question →Is it aligned with the Turkish national curriculum?
Yes. The themes of the Ministry of National Education (MEB) English curriculum for grades 2–8 are mapped to the app's vocabulary and grammar topics, and teachers can give ready homework from these units. Grades 2–8 themes are mapped to app topics; high school themes for grades 9–12 are listed here. Mapping high school themes to app topics is in progress; for now, teachers can select topics themselves to assign practice.
Link to this question →Can a school use it?
Yes. Teachers create a school and join each other with the school code; the school has a shared exam pool and a weekly ranking of its classes.
Link to this question →What is the goal of a ready MEB assignment pack?
For mapped grades 2–8, a selected unit’s vocabulary and grammar pack targets 30 correct answers over seven days. High-school themes are listed, but ready topic mapping is still pending; teachers can select topics themselves.
Link to this question →What does the worksheet QR code open?
The QR code opens the answer key. The teacher selects a level and content and prints the sheet; after completing the work, students scan the code to check themselves.
Link to this question →When can students see exam answers?
Teachers choose when results and correct answers become available. Teacher results include item analysis, topic performance and CSV export.
Link to this question →What if a student loses a login card?
Reprint login cards on the class page resets passwords for teacher-created accounts and generates new cards. Old cards stop working; this does not change passwords for accounts added through parent invitations.

Can my child chat with strangers?
No. There is no free chat in the app. In games only ready-made, friendly messages can be sent. Friendships need both sides' approval; users can report and block each other, and a blocked person can no longer reach them.
Link to this question →Is the content safe for children?
Content is scanned and reviewed for child suitability; themes such as horror, violence, romance, alcohol, gambling or politics are not included, and children are never asked for personal details such as their address, phone number or school name.
Link to this question →How is personal data protected?
Data is processed under Turkish data protection law (KVKK); there are no ads or third-party trackers. Students don't need an email address. An account can be deleted from Profile → Account (via a link to the verified email, if there is one); a student account linked to a parent or teacher is deleted by that parent or teacher. Details are in the privacy notice.
Link to this question →How are the questions checked?
Every question must have one defensible correct answer, and its explanation says why the answer is right and why each wrong option is wrong. All grammar questions and readings have been independently reviewed. Users can report a question they think is wrong with "Report a mistake".
