Cümle yapısı: İleri koşul cümleleri

Bu bölümde

• Karma koşul: iki zaman, tek cümle

Geçmiş koşul → şimdiki sonuç: If we had bought the tickets last week, we would be at the concert now. · Genel/şimdiki koşul → geçmiş sonuç: If my sister liked spicy food, we would have ordered tacos last night.

• Karma koşul örnekleri

Gerçek: bilet almadık (geçmiş), konserde değiliz (şimdi).

Örnek: If we had bought the tickets last week, we would be at the concert now. (Biletleri geçen hafta alsaydık şimdi konserde olurduk.)

Örnek: If Ali hadn't eaten all the cookies, there would be some for us now. (Ali bütün kurabiyeleri yemeseydi şimdi bize de biraz kalırdı.)

• if yerine geçenler ve in case

unless = if … not. Olumsuzluk içinde; arkasından olumlu fiil gelir.

Örnek: Unless you water the plants, they will dry out. (Bitkileri sulamazsan kururlar.)

Örnek: You can borrow my bike provided that you bring it back by six. (Saat altıya kadar geri getirmen şartıyla bisikletimi ödünç alabilirsin.)

• in case ≠ if

Önce önlem: atıştırmalık her durumda hazırlanır.

Örnek: Mom packs a snack in case we get hungry. (Annem acıkırız diye atıştırmalık hazırlar.)

Örnek: Mom buys a snack if we get hungry. (Acıkırsak annem atıştırmalık alır.)

• Devrik koşul: if'siz ve resmî

Should + özne + yalın fiil (tip 1): Should you need any help, please call the front desk. · Were + özne (+ to + fiil) (tip 2): Were I the coach, I would give everyone a chance to play. · Had + özne + V3 (tip 3): Had we known about the traffic, we would have left earlier.

• Devrik koşul örnekleri

= If you have any questions… Duyurularda ve resmî e-postalarda sık.

Örnek: Should you have any questions, please ask the librarian. (Herhangi bir sorunuz olursa lütfen kütüphaneciye sorun.)

Örnek: Were it to rain tomorrow, the picnic would be canceled. (Yarın yağmur yağacak olsa piknik iptal edilirdi.)

• İpucu

Devrik koşulda anahtarı ana cümle seçer: will / emir → Should, would + fiil → Were, would have + V3 → Had. Karma koşulda zaman kelimesine bak: now → would + fiil, yesterday / last night → would have + V3.
