Kurallar

• Kural 1: into ↔ out of

  into = bir şeyin içine girmek. out of = içinden dışarı çıkmak. of kelimesini unutma!

  Kalıp: into / out of + yer

  Örnek: She walked into the kitchen. (Mutfağa girdi.)

  Örnek: He jumped out of the pool. (Havuzdan dışarı atladı.)

• Kural 2: across ↔ through

  across = düz bir yüzeyin bir yanından öbür yanına (yol, nehir, alan). through = kapalı bir şeyin içinden (tünel, orman, pencere).

  Örnek: We ran across the field. (Tarlanın öbür ucuna koştuk.)

  Örnek: The fox ran through the woods. (Tilki ormanın içinden koştu.)

• Kural 3: up ↔ down, along

  up = yukarı, down = aşağı. along = bir yol, nehir ya da sahil boyunca.

  Örnek: The cat ran up the tree. (Kedi ağaca tırmandı.)

  Örnek: We cycled along the river. (Nehir boyunca bisiklet sürdük.)

• Kural 4: over, past, toward

  over = bir şeyin üstünden aşarak. past = bir şeyin önünden/yanından geçip gitmek. toward = bir şeye doğru.

  Örnek: The dog jumped over the box. (Köpek kutunun üstünden atladı.)

  Örnek: We drove past the zoo. (Hayvanat bahçesinin önünden geçtik.)

Sık yapılan hatalar

• He got out the car. → He got out of the car.

  out of iki kelimedir; of gerekli.

• The cat jumped in the box. → The cat jumped into the box.

  Hareketle içine girmek → into.

• We walked through the road. → We walked across the road.

  Yol düz bir yüzey → across.
