Kurallar

• Kural 1: tarif = emir cümlesi

  Fiil yalın gelir; özne yoktur, -s ya da -ing almaz. Olumsuz: Don't + fiil.

  Kalıp: Turn / Go / Walk / Cross / Take …

  Örnek: Turn right at the traffic light. (Trafik ışığından sağa dön.)

  Örnek: Don't cross here. Use the crosswalk. (Buradan karşıya geçme. Yaya geçidini kullan.)

• Kural 2: yön kelimeleri

  go straight (ahead) = düz (ileri) git · go past = önünden geçip git · take the first/second right = ilk/ikinci sağa gir · on your left/right = solunda/sağında.

  Örnek: Go past the library and take the second left. (Kütüphanenin önünden geç ve ikinci soldan dön.)

  Örnek: The bakery is on your right. (Fırın sağında.)

• Kural 3: yer ifadeleri

  next to = yanında · across from = karşısında (caddenin öbür tarafında) · between A and B = ikisinin arasında · in front of = önünde · behind = arkasında.

  Örnek: The café is next to the bank. (Kafe bankanın yanında.)

  Örnek: The pharmacy is between the bakery and the toy store. (Eczane fırın ile oyuncakçının arasında.)

• Kural 4: köşe, son, sokak

  Sokak köşesi on the corner; sokağın sonu at the end of; sokak adı on Main Street; numaralı adres at 12 Main Street.

  Örnek: The bank is on the corner of Oak Street and 1st Avenue. (Banka Oak Street ile 1. Cadde'nin köşesinde.)

  Örnek: My school is at the end of this street. (Okulum bu sokağın sonunda.)

Sık yapılan hatalar

• The bank is across of the park. → The bank is across from the park.

  Amerikan İngilizcesinde across from.

• Go passed the school. → Go past the school.

  past edattır; passed fiilin geçmiş hâlidir.

• Turn left when you will see the bank. → Turn left when you see the bank.

  when/until'den sonra will kullanılmaz.
