this / that / these / those (bu, şu)

Kurallar

• Kural 1: Yakın + tek → this

  Elimizdeki ya da hemen yanımızdaki tek bir şey için this (bu) kullanırız. Birini tanıştırırken de this deriz: *This is my brother.*

  Kalıp: this + tek şey + is

  Örnek: This sandwich is yummy. (Bu sandviç çok lezzetli.)

  Örnek: This is my teacher, Mr. Aydın. (Bu benim öğretmenim, Aydın Bey.)

• Kural 2: Uzak + tek → that

  Uzaktaki, “orada” olan tek bir şey için that (şu / o) kullanırız.

  Kalıp: that + tek şey + is

  Örnek: That tree over there is very tall. (Oradaki şu ağaç çok uzun.)

  Örnek: Look at that rainbow! (Şu gökkuşağına bak!)

• Kural 3: Yakın + çok → these

  Yakındaki birden fazla şey için these (bunlar / bu …-ler) kullanırız. Arkasından birden fazla şey ve are gelir.

  Kalıp: these + birden fazla şey + are

  Örnek: These strawberries are sweet. (Bu çilekler tatlı.)

  Örnek: These are my new boots. (Bunlar benim yeni botlarım.)

• Kural 4: Uzak + çok → those

  Uzaktaki birden fazla şey için those (şunlar / şu …-ler) kullanırız. Arkasından yine birden fazla şey ve are gelir.

  Kalıp: those + birden fazla şey + are

  Örnek: Those ducks on the lake are white. (Göldeki şu ördekler beyaz.)

  Örnek: Are those your friends over there? (Oradakiler senin arkadaşların mı?)

Sık yapılan hatalar

• This shoes are new. → These shoes are new.

  Türkçede “bu” hep aynı kalır, ama İngilizcede çoğul için these gerekir.

• Those bird is small. → That bird is small.

  Tek kuş → that; those çoğul içindir.

• These is my books. → These are my books.

  these / those ile are kullanılır.
