Kurallar

• Kural 1: the + kısa sıfat + -est

  Tek heceli sıfatlara -est eklenir: *small → the smallest, old → the oldest*. -e ile bitiyorsa sadece -st: *nice → the nicest*.

  Kalıp: the + kısa sıfat + -est

  Örnek: My granny is the oldest person on our street. (Büyükannem sokağımızdaki en yaşlı kişi.)

  Örnek: This is the nicest café in town. (Bu, şehirdeki en güzel kafe.)

• Kural 2: Yazım değişiklikleri

  Karşılaştırmadaki kurallar burada da geçerli: Tek sesli + tek sessiz ile biten kısa sıfatta son harf ikilenir: *big → the biggest, hot → the hottest*. Sessiz + y → -iest: *happy → the happiest, funny → the funniest*.

  Örnek: Jupiter is the biggest planet. (Jüpiter en büyük gezegendir.)

  Örnek: Deniz is the funniest girl in my class. (Deniz sınıfımdaki en komik kız.)

• Kural 3: Uzun sıfat → the most

  Uzun sıfatlara -est eklenmez; önüne the most gelir: *the most expensive, the most important, the most delicious*.

  Kalıp: the most + uzun sıfat

  Örnek: This is the most delicious pizza! (Bu en lezzetli pizza!)

  Örnek: Who is the most famous soccer player? (En ünlü futbolcu kim?)

• Kural 4: Düzensizler ve ipuçları

  good → the best (en iyi), bad → the worst (en kötü), far → the farthest / the furthest (en uzak). Superlative genelde in the class, in the world, of all, of the year gibi ifadelerle gelir.

  Örnek: She is the best player in the team. (O takımdaki en iyi oyuncu.)

  Örnek: That was the worst day of the vacation. (O, tatilin en kötü günüydü.)

Sık yapılan hatalar

• He is tallest boy in the class. → He is the tallest boy in the class.

  Superlative'den önce the unutulmaz.

• It is the most biggest house. → It is the biggest house.

  most ve -est birlikte kullanılmaz.

• She is the goodest singer. → She is the best singer.

  good → the best.
