• Kural 1: How much is…? / How much are…?

  Tek bir şeyin fiyatını sorarken is, birden fazla şey için are kullanılır. Cevapta da buna uyarız: tek şey → It's, çoğul → They're.

  Kalıp: How much is + tekil? — It's … · How much are + çoğul? — They're …

  Örnek: How much is the kite? — It's eight dollars. (Uçurtma ne kadar? — Sekiz dolar.)

  Örnek: How much are the gloves? — They're six dollars. (Eldivenler ne kadar? — Altı dolar.)

• Kural 2: cost fiili

  Aynı soruyu cost (… tutmak, … etmek) fiiliyle de sorabiliriz. Soruda does / do gelir, fiil yalın kalır. Cevapta he/she/it ile costs olur.

  Kalıp: How much does it cost? — It costs … · How much do they cost? — They cost …

  Örnek: How much does the game cost? — It costs twenty dollars. (Oyun ne kadar? — Yirmi dolar.)

  Örnek: The pens cost two dollars. (Kalemler iki dolar.)

• Kural 3: Dolar ve sent

  Amerika'da para dollar ve cent'tir: 100 cents = 1 dollar. Bir tane ise tekil, birden fazlaysa çoğul: one dollar, two dollars · one cent, fifty cents. $4.50 → “four dollars and fifty cents” ya da kısaca “four fifty”. Türkiye'de ise lira (₺) kullanırız: It's twenty lira.

  Kalıp: 1 dollar · 2 dollars · 1 cent · 50 cents · 20 lira

  Örnek: The juice is one dollar. (Meyve suyu bir dolar.)

  Örnek: A simit is fifteen lira. (Bir simit on beş lira.)

• Kural 4: How much mı, How many mi?

  How much → fiyat ve sayılamayan şeyler (money, milk, water). How many → sayılabilen çoğul şeyler (coins, apples, tickets).

  Kalıp: How much money? · How many coins?

  Örnek: How much money do you have? (Ne kadar paran var?)

  Örnek: How many tickets do we need? (Kaç bilete ihtiyacımız var?)

  Fiyat → How much.

• How much it is? → How much is it?

  Soruda fiil özneden önce gelir.

• It's two dollar. → It's two dollars.
